The Syrian Monologues is the initiative of theatre-maker Iman Aoun, creator of the revolutionary Gaza Monologues (2010) which took stories of young people trapped in Gaza out to the world.

The Syrian Monologues was created in response to an international artist call from ASHTAR Theatre, Palestine.
It is based on monologues written by Syrian refugees.
The show performed in Colombo comprised two monologues performed in English, two in Sinhala and one in Tamil.

The Syrian Monologues was first performed in Sri Lanka in Sinhala, Tamil, and English at the Goethe-Insitut, Colombo, Sri Lanka on World Refugee Day.
The opening show was supported by the Goethe-Insitut, Colombo. -
