Selvaraj Leelawathy is a multi-award-winning Sri Lankan theatre artist with two decades of experience in acting, directing, and design. She is the co-founder of Theatre Mates Cultural Association and a long-time member of the Janakaraliya Drama Company, where she performed professionally for over 13 years. Leelawathy has received numerous national awards for her work as an actress, director, scriptwriter, and costume designer, including the prestigious Japanese BUNKA Award in 2019. Her artistic journey has taken her across Sri Lanka and internationally to India, where she has represented Sri Lankan theatre in festivals and workshops. Through her work, Leelawathy continues to explore theatre as a space for empathy, dialogue, and transformation—where stories become a bridge between communities and lived realities.
